At Wilkins Guitar Finishes, we are committed to excellence in all that we do.

For nearly 20 years now, we have provided the guitar industry with the finest quality guitar building, guitar finishing, re-finishing and custom painting. Our custom guitars and basses are being played by many of the world’s greatest artists. From the sunbursts and pastels of the '50s and '60s, the graphics of the '80s, to the stained and translucent finishes of the '90s, we have provided the custom finish work for many high-profile manufacturers and artists.

To date, we have finished over 20,000 instruments and continue to be a leader in the high-end guitar and bass custom finishing market. We have been instrumental in the development of materials and techniques used by most all instrument manufacturers today. We have also provided consultation to some of the worlds largest and most highly respected instrument manufacturers and continue to do so today.

At Wilkins Guitar Finishes, we use only products that have been extensively tested and proven reliable to meet our clients high expectations. A beautiful color and clear finish, as well as sound and durability are key elements in the materials we choose. Since many of our custom colors are automotive based, we can offer an infinite variety of colors to choose from. If you have seen a color somewhere, chances are we can duplicate it. If the color is still just an idea, we may be able to develop it for you.

Quality is the final key element to what we do. Because there are no "seconds" here, every step is meticulously done and quality checked before it moves on to the next stage. Our years of experience has taught us that the final product is great only if every step is done flawlessly. Because everyone on our staff is highly trained and specialized, we can assure you that the finish you receive will be second to none.

Our History

Wilkins Guitars was founded by Pat Wilkins. Pat began his guitar building career in 1976 at the original Schecter Guitars shop in California. By 1984, Wilkins Guitar Finishes was started and has grown to become one of the most respected custom guitar finishing shops in the country. Pat’s high standards have made Wilkins Guitars the finishing shop for many of the worlds finest guitar builders. Clients include Tom Anderson, Roger Sadowsky, Zion, Gibson, Yamaha, Paul Reed Smith, Tobias, Lakland, Warrior and many other custom lutherie shops nationwide.

Our Future

We are currently in development of several exciting new guitar and bass models for the professional guitarist. We will continue our philosophy of hand built products, built to the highest quality level possible.
